SMITHFIELD, UT—William Gerald (Jerry) Workman, 73, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, in Smithfield, Utah.

Jerry was born April 17, 1952, in Ogden, Utah, to Gar Workman and Jean Marie Phillips. He graduated from Sky View High School in 1970 and later from Utah State University with a degree in Physical Education and Biology. In 1975, he married Zona Lee Spackman in the Logan LDS Temple.

A lifelong scouter and outdoorsman, Jerry dedicated 22 years to the Boy Scouts of America and served 19 years in LDS church leadership. His professional career included a decade with the U.S. Forest Service as a firefighter and fisheries manager, followed by 20 years at Utah State University.

He is survived by his wife, Zona; children: Nicholas, Mitchell, and Cassy; and grandchildren: Riley, Halle, Sam, Vince, Ty, Saxton, Macie, Charlee, and Taylee. He is also survived by his four sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services:

A viewing will be held Thursday, March 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Cache Valley Mortuary. 

A second viewing will be held Friday, March 27, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the LDS Church House, 79 E 200 S, Smithfield. Funeral services will follow immediately, with dedication of the grave at 1pm the Smithfield Cemetery.
