StijnieVerhoef
January 14, 1933 — April 15, 2026
Stijntje “Stijnie” Verhoef passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 15th, 2026. Stijnie was born in Bergambacht, the Netherlands, on January 14th, 1933, to Bartholomeus Cornelis de Jong and Everdina Koning. She was the youngest of three children. She married Henny Verhoef on October 23, 1959, in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and they had two sons together.
She grew up in Utrecht as the daughter of a small businessman. Her father owned and operated a small dealership for the Dutch car brand Daf. After high school, Stijnie worked numerous office jobs. First for the Dutch railroad company and later for a large steel manufacturing company, De Demka. It is here that she met Henny in 1954.
After Henny landed a steady job in California, they married in 1959, and she moved across the world to start her new life. She worked for the City of Los Angeles for several years before having her first son, Erik. Soon after that, they moved to England she had Glenn. Stijnie was the rock of the family, making sure life moved smoothly along while Henny’s career took the family all over the world. She lived a life of service to her family and those around her. Stijnie loved her life with all its twists and turns. She enjoyed the adventure of moving the family all over the world to keep up with Henny’s career. She enjoyed the travel and the opportunity to explore many parts of the world.
Her friendly disposition made her a joy to be around, and she almost always had some homemade blondies ready for you when you came to visit. Stijnie enjoyed a quiet home life and always made sure the home was a place of refuge for the family. As part of making things more comfortable, she developed a few hobbies, like knitting and needlepoint.
She is survived by her sons Erik and Glenn, their wives, Esther and Sandra, and her 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
