Sharon Lee Lowder (Sherri), passed away on May 26, 2025 after a short but intense battle with cancer, surrounded by her family. Sharon was born on September 23,1947 in Smithcenter, Kansas to Ervie Lee Mathes and Fern Lucille Dehut Mathes. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, stepfather Dudley Rhodes McFarland, sister Karen Ross, half-sister Norma Lee Redwine, and two grandchildren, Kaleb Lowder and Kenzie Sherwood. Sharon is survived by her husband, Val Ryse Lowder, and 7 children and spouses. Sheldon Lee (and Loretta Lynn) Lowder, (Paul Parkinson and) Laurica Ann Klomp, Val Shane (and Galina) Lowder, (David M and) Sheila Rae Paskett, Michael Joe (and Audrey) Lowder, Bradley Jay (and Heidi) Lowder, Daniel Lynn (and Autumn Monroe) Lowder. She is also survived by 46 grandchildren (including spouses), and 35 great grandchildren.
Sharon fell head over heels with Val Ryse Lowder while attending her first year of college at Adams State in Alamosa, Colorado. They married on July 10, 1966, in Fowler, Colorado, and were later sealed in Mesa, Arizona for time and all eternity. She later attended Utah State University where she received a Bachelors in Business Administration and a degree in Secondary Education. She also attended Weber State University/USU extension and received her Registered Nursing degree. She worked at Mercy Med in Durango, CO, Logan Regional Hospital in Logan Utah, and she even assisted in developing the Nursing Program at Bridgerland College, where she later taught Nursing. She also worked as an attendance Secretary at Sky View High School. She enjoyed being in her yard, tending to her flowers, and mowing her yard. Her greatest joy in life was her posterity. She served in many callings in her Church, Churchof Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. If you ever asked what her favorite calling was, she would answer that it was the calling that she held at the time she was asked. She spent a great deal of time in the Primary and will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held: Tuesday, June 3 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 6521 N 2400 W Amalga, Utah Following the Funeral, there will be a short viewing held in the RS room. There will also be a Condolence Open House Monday evening, June 2, 2025 from 5-7 pm.
