Raymond Scott Pitcher

Raymond Scott Pitcher passed peacefully at home among family members on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the age of 78. Ray was born to the late Valden and Doris Pitcher on January 5th, 1948, in Cornish, Utah and is the third of five children including John, Jan, Ray, Ralph & Mary. With the exception of two years living in Salt Lake City, Ray lived his entire life in Cornish, Utah. Being raised on a dairy farm, Ray found joy in hard work and spending time with family and neighbors who felt like family. Ray graduated from Sky View High School in 1966.

He met Judy Kendall that same year and the embers of a future flame began to burn. They married in 1970 and moved to Salt Lake City while Judy finished beauty school. Ray worked in the offices of the Gallagher Company in Salt Lake City. In 1972, Hollie was added to the family while in Salt Lake. In the same year, the small family moved back to the family farm where they continued to grow by adding Brady & Kelley. In September of 1977, Ray & Judy were sealed together with their three children in the Ogden Temple for Time and Eternity. Later Amy and Kyle were added to make the family complete. Life on the farm was filled with hard work, long days and time spent together.

In 1999, the next phase of life started as Ray & Judy sold the farm and Ray started work at Utah State University in the facilities department, where he retired in 2016.

Ray served diligently in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and his favorite calling was serving with the youth. Those who knew Ray, will never forget his witty humor and spice for life. He found the greatest joy in scaring you from around the corner or sharing the latest joke. Some of his favorite hobbies were playing baseball, fishing, golfing, collecting Indian Artifacts but mostly spending time with his children and grandchildren by doing crazy things like putting a garbage bag over his torso, soaping the slip-n-slide and going down in laughter with anyone who would join him.

Ray is survived by his wife Judy Pitcher and his children Hollie Hullinger (John), Brady Pitcher (Georgina), Kelley Cantwell (Blaine), Kyle Pitcher (JoSee), son-in-law Conner (Liz), and his siblings Jan, John, Ralph, and Mary plus 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life (open house format) will be held in Ray’s honor on February 7th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the church located at 400 W 1200 N, Trenton, UT 84338. Family and close friends are invited to join us.
