Randall Kay Rigby

Randall Kay Rigby passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, friendships, and stories that will continue to be shared by all who knew and loved him.

Randy was born on April 24, 1957, in Logan, Utah, to J. Murray and Arlene Traveller Rigby. He was the youngest of five children and grew up in Newton, Utah, where he spent most of his life. As a young boy, he learned the value of hard work while helping on the family farm. Life revolved around farm chores, family, and friends. When he wasn't working, he could usually be found spending the day with friends and making it home just in time to move irrigation pipe.

Family members often laughed about how, as a baby, Randy became a favorite at church because he could sleep with his eyes open and made the perfect "baby doll" for his older sister.

Randy graduated from Sky View High School in 1975. He married Delia Bliss in 1976, and together they welcomed three children: Sabrina, Brandy, and Steven. They later divorced.

Randy was blessed to meet Jeannette Kehr, and in 1994 they were sealed in the Seattle Washington Temple. Together they built a life filled with love, companionship, and cherished memories. They remained devoted to one another until Jeannette's passing in 2023.

Throughout his life, Randy was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to take on new adventures. His career included driving school buses for the Cache County School District, operating garbage trucks for Logan City, driving city buses—where he met Jeannette—and spending many years as a long-haul truck driver. Truck driving allowed him to see much of the country, and he always had a good story to tell from his travels. While Randy enjoyed many different careers throughout his life, in his heart he always loved milking cows. No matter where life took him, the farm and its way of life remained a part of who he was.

Randy enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved riding his motorcycle, eating at Angie's Restaurant, cheering for the Utah Jazz, Utah State Aggies, and Green Bay Packers, and spending time outdoors. He especially enjoyed mowing lawns and even operated a small lawn care business for a time. Randy also had a deep love for animals and always had a soft spot for them. More often than not, he had more animals than he needed, but his response was always, "What's one more?" He treasured lifelong friendships that began in Newton and carried those relationships with him throughout his life.

Recently, Randy moved to Pioneer Valley Lodge in Logan, where he was beginning to form many new friendships. After his passing, his family found comfort in hearing stories from his neighbors and friends about the time they had spent together. It was clear that wherever Randy went, he left a lasting impression and quickly found ways to connect with others.

Randy was especially excited to become a great-grandfather for the first time. He eagerly anticipated the arrival of his first great-grandchild in September.

Randy is survived by his children, Sabrina (Ryan) Meredith, Brandy Saunders, and Steven (Tiera) Rigby; his grandchildren, Kyler (Aubrie), Tyson, Jaden, Emma, Annabelle, Brinley, Carter, Corbin, Taya, Grady, and Beckett; and his siblings, Richard (Chris) Rigby, Jeanine (David) Nilson, and Mark (Diane) Rigby.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeannette Rigby; his parents, J. Murray and Arlene Rigby; his brother, Craig Rigby; and his beloved grandchildren, Braxton Saunders and Hailey Saunders.

Randy will be remembered for his hard work, his love of family and friends, his stories from the road, his compassion for animals, and his ability to find joy in life's simple pleasures. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the friendships he treasured, and the family he loved so dearly.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Friday, August 7, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Newton Church, 90 South 100 West, Newton, Utah. Following a private family graveside service, Randy will be laid to rest in the Newton Cemetery.
