Marjorie L. (Marge) Anderson, 89, died 5 days short of her 90th birthday on Dec. 15th, 2025. She was born Dec. 20, 1935 in Logan, Utah to Louis James and Louisa Rasmussen Smith. She was the 9th of 10 children. She grew up in Smithfield and learned to work at an early age. She said her mom would put a large pan of potatoes in front of her to peel as she was listening to the radio after school. She also remembered ironing shirts each laundry day for her dad, brothers and an uncle who lived with them.
Marge was a gifted dancer and she loved to ice skate. Her sister-in-law Jessie made all her dance costumes. Marge went to school at Summit Elementary in Smithfield, Lewiston Jr. High and North Cache High School.
Marge married her high school sweetheart, Robert (Bob) Anderson on June 3, 1955 in the Logan temple. They lived in Smithfield for 7 years then built a house in Richmond. Marge knew exactly what she wanted in her house. The contractor said it was the easiest house he ever built because she didn’t change the plans at all.
Marge and Bob had 4 boys, Lee, Todd, Bart and Scott. She was an excellent homemaker. She loved being a wife and mother and made sure the boys learned to work. She cooked wonderful meals, washed lots of chore clothes, taught them how to budget and save money and made sure her boys were on time wherever they worked. She worked hard to get Bob and the boys ready for many hunting and pack trips, scout adventures and horse rides. She learned to appreciate dogs, horses and even a mail order racoon named Elsa.
Marge was the ultimate shopper. She loved a good deal and was a master at finding the best ones. She loved Christmas, especially buying dresses for the granddaughters, which they had to try on and model for her.
Marge loved being with her siblings. They would get together often and kept in close contact over the years. Marge was especially close to her 2 sisters. They always had fun together. She was famous for pulling pranks and making everyone laugh. She loved life.
After her boys went to school, she started working at North Cache Jr. High in the lunch room. She enjoyed working with the “lunch ladies” and watched for certain kids that came through the lunch line to give them an extra helping. She retired from the Summit Elementary lunch program in 1998 and enjoyed her retirement. Bob and Marge served a service mission in the facilities management department for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Cache Valley area.
Marge made the best bread and cinnamon rolls. You could always expect to get a piece of warm bread, smothered with butter and homemade jam when you visited.
She was an advocate for the underdog and treated everyone kindly. She was great at finding the good in people. Marge had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and taught Primary for many years.
Marge is survived by her husband Bob, sons, Lee (Rose Ann), Bart (Michelle), and Scott, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Clyde (Ivy) and Ron, a sister-in-law, Jeanine (John) Mayberry and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, son, Todd, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, Dec. 22, 2025 at noon with a viewing from 10:00-11:30 am at the City Creek Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 150 South 100 East in Richmond, Utah. Memories and Condolences may be shared with the family at cvmorturary.com.
