Margaret (Margie) Despain Pickering, age 85, of Logan, Utah, died October 2, 2026, at Williamsburg Care Center.
Margaret was born April 28, 1941, in Lovell, Wyoming, into the family of William Quayle and Mary Asay Despain. Margaret was the ninth of 11 children. Her siblings included Joyce (Melvin Lemmon), Eleazer (Carolyn) Despain, Ronald Quayle Despain, Elna (Paul Peterson), Donna (Silas Stewart), William Quayle Despain Jr. (Myrna), Merrill (Iris) Despain, Marian (Ed Lee), John (Sandra) Despain, and Allan (Jeanne) Despain.
Margaret graduated from Lovell High School in 1961. She moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1962. Margaret loved children. She taught preschool children in Arizona and coached children in many sports.
In 1967, she was called to serve a mission to the Northern States Mission by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After serving her mission in 1968, Margaret lived in different states as she visited and lived with some of her married siblings. She loved her little nieces and nephews.
In 1972, she was living in Colorado Springs, where she met and married Dennis Keith Pickering. To this union was born a son, Kevin Keith Pickering, in 1977.
Margaret is survived by her son, Kevin; four siblings: William, Marian, John, and Allan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Williamsburg Care Center in Logan, Utah, on Thursday, October 8, at 11:15 a.m. for the residents of the Williamsburg facility.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
