Karen Kay Peterson Tippets

December 5, 1945 — December 7, 2025

Logan

Karen Kay Peterson Tippets, 80, passed away peacefully at her home in Logan, Utah, on December 7, 2025.

Karen was born on December 5, 1945 in Omaha, NE, to Daniel Peterson and Virginia Booker. Her mother passed away when she was nine months old. She grew up in Sioux Falls, SD, raised by her father and step-mother, Eva Larson.

In her early adulthood, Karen served proudly in the United States Air Force as a medic—an experience that nurtured her desire to help others. At 19, she joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a decision that shaped much of her faith and direction. Her studies at Ricks College and Brigham Young University opened the door to one of her great passions: Israeli culture. She embraced it wholeheartedly, even learning to read and write Hebrew fluently.

Karen married the love of her life, Terry Tippets, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they welcomed five children and later, ten grandchildren. While raising her family, Karen completed her nursing education in Omaha, Nebraska, becoming a Registered Nurse.

One of Karen’s greatest lifelong passions was genealogy. She loved helping others discover their heritage, and she shared that love generously by teaching classes, volunteering in the genealogy department at the Omaha Public Library, and eventually serving as president of the Greater Omaha Genealogical Society. Researching family history wasn’t just a hobby for her—it was a calling.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Terry, whom she now rejoins.

Honoring her wishes, no formal services will be held. She will be laid to rest at the Omaha National Cemetery.
