Jo Ann Davis
January 17, 1934 – April 30, 2026
Jo Ann Davis, 92, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, at the Birch Creek Assisted Living Center in Smithfield, Utah.
Born on January 17, 1934, in Los Angeles, California, Jo Ann was the beloved only child of Bynum Byram Burns and Marcelle P. Ziesing. After graduating high school in 1952, she married John Pincoffs in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1954. Together, they raised their four children—John (Steve), Christopher, Michael, and Patricia—in Palmdale, California.
Jo Ann later moved to Carson City, Nevada. After the death of her first husband, Jo Ann shared her life with her second husband, Don Davis, and after his death, her devoted partner, Ray Ritter.
Jo Ann then moved to Herndon, Virginia, where she spent many happy years close to her son Steve, his wife Emma, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jo Ann’s final move was to Smithfield, Utah, to be close to her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Judy.
Nothing was more important to Jo Ann than her family and friends. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending as much time as she could with family. Jo Ann made friends wherever she went and she cherished those friendships dearly. She was a woman of elegance and spirit; she loved shopping and was always impeccably dressed, often accessorized with her favorite matching necklace and earrings. Jo Ann also loved football and was a faithful fan of the San Francisco 49ers.
Jo Ann is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, John (Steve) and Emma Pincoffs, and Michael and Judy Pincoffs. She was the proud grandmother of seven: Kara (Pincoffs) Horne, Georgie Ann Pincoffs, Autumn (Pincoffs) Grooms, Jacob Hackle, Josh Hackle, Jackie Kellas, and Kalista Kellas. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren: Ella Horne, Adam Horne, and Jolene Grooms.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bynum Byram Burns and Marcelle P. Ziesing; her son, Christopher Pincoffs; her daughter, Patricia Pincoffs-Kellas; her husbands, John Pincoffs and Don Davis; and her life partner, Ray Ritter.
In accordance with Jo Ann’s wishes, she will be cremated. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Birch Creek Assisted Living Center, 532 South Main Street, Smithfield, Utah 84335. A second celebration of life will be held in Virginia at a date to be determined.
