Gregory Eugene Augustus “Gus” was born on March 11, 1958, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to Ronald and Peggy Augustus. He passed away on March 30, 2026 (age 68), surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. Gus was the second of 7 children. He enjoyed a memorable childhood growing up in Ohio with his siblings where he was taught the value of hard work. After high school, Gus joined the U.S. Navy where he served his country for 4 years as a Boatswains Mate the backbone of the ship’s operations.
Gus worked in various positions over the years but, his favorite by far was being a long- haul truck driver. He loved to haul cattle the most and his favorite saying was, “Aint no feeling like cowmobiling!” Between his childhood vacations and truck driving he was able to see every state except Alaska and Hawaii. When he was not on the road he enjoyed spending time with family, camping, making everyone laugh, and telling his crazy but hilarious stories!
Over the years he spent time living with his brother Jeff and his family where he built lasting and loving relationships and was especially close to his niece Anissa. Gus came “home” to be with his family before he passed. He was lovingly cared for by his sister-in-law Nancy and niece Anissa.
Gus was proceeded in death by his father Ron, grandparents, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his mom Peggy, siblings Cheryl (Ronnie), Mike, Arlene (Paul), Darlene (Hugh), Ron (Kris), Jeff (Nancy) and several nieces and nephews.
Gus lived his life unapologetically and to the fullest! He is now able to be truly free.
