Gordon Anderson - December 31, 1951 - July 5, 2025
Born to Reed Weldon Anderson and Teresa Marie Manwaring in Shelley Idaho. He passed away on July 5, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Gordon always entertained his children with his stories about growing up as a ”typical” Idaho farm boy, moving pipe, shooting his .22 rifle, parasailing behind pickup trucks, chasing wild rabbits and riding horses and motorcycles. His mother being the amazing musician she was, made sure he sang in many groups including the 9 man singing group ”The Sonics”.
He served a full-time mission in the Ontario/Quebec Canada Mission 1971-73. When he returned he married his high school sweetheart Paula Hansen in the Idaho Falls temple on April 20, 1974.
He went to college and joined the Air Force and went through the ROTC at Utah State University to become an officer. He continued on to finish his Masters degree in Guidance Counseling in Montana. From there the military took him and his family traveling the world from Belgium to England, Korea, Germany and Washington. Then retired after his 20 years of service where he finally came back home to Newton Utah.
While completing certifications at Bridgerland Applied Technology College, he was asked to teach the computer repair course, which he then taught for 18 years until retiring in 2017.
He and Paula served a service mission managing the Logan Bishop’s Storehouse just as the COVID pandemic began. And they never ran out of toilet paper!
Photography, kayaking, four-wheeling with grandchildren and collecting hats and interesting things were a few of his many hobbies. He loved to teach, tell stories, discuss politics, and he loved his country. But most of all he loved BIG, and liked to make friends with everybody, even strangers. He loved his family, nieces and nephews and was always staying involved in their lives as much as possible.
He suffered a stroke doing what he enjoyed, traveling in his RV with Paula to visit his daughter in beautiful Wyoming. He took his last grand adventure with Paula as they were flown by jet to Salt Lake Hospital where all their children and grandchildren gathered to laugh, tell stories and express their love and appreciation for a life well lived.
Survived by his wife Paula Hansen Anderson, their five children and spouses, Christian (Sara), Mindy (Tyson), Nate (Nicole), AJ (Jessica) and Shelly (Jared), 16 grandchildren, two sisters: Kathleen Anderson and Beth Hulet, and many many beloved cousins and nieces and nephews.
He joins his parents, four siblings: Steve, Diane, Linda, and Nancy; 2 grandchildren: Caralynn and Lynden; and multiple family members on the other side, to continue the work, with a healthy dose of storytelling and singing mixed in.
Thank you to all the Family, Friends and Well-wishers! We have felt your love and prayers and are eternally grateful to you all!
