Frans Robert (Bob) Anderson, 90, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, May 6th, 2026 at Maple Springs in North Logan. Bob was born in Richmond on November 10, 1935 to Herbert William Anderson and Rhoda Wilkinson Anderson. He was the 2nd of 3 children, he had 2 sisters, Aliene and Jeanine.
Bob went to school at Park Elementary in Richmond, Lewiston Jr. High and graduated from North Cache High School. He enjoyed playing basketball while at North Cache under Coach Whitman. Bob thought a lot of Coach Whitman and would tell stories about him often.
Bob met Marge in their junior year of high school. He thought she was so cute. His best friend, Lou Lamb and girlfriend double dated with Bob and Marge on their first date. They dated the rest of their high school years and were married on June 3, 1955 in the Logan Temple. They lived in Smithfield for 7 years then built a house in Richmond, next to his mom and dad. Bob and Marge celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last June.
Bob was so good to his parents. He would check on them after he got home from work. They would each drink a Coke and catch up on what was going on in Richmond and with the family. He did that every day until both his parents passed away. Bob was proud of his Swedish heritage and was named after his grandfather, Frans Johan Anderson. Grandma always said she wanted a son who was as good as her father-in-law and Bob was.
Bob and Marge had 4 boys, Lee, Todd, Bart and Scott, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. They were so proud of their family and what each one accomplished. In fact, they thought their grandkids were perfect.
Bob worked for Don Earl hauling gas for 26 years, making many lifelong friends. Then changed jobs and went to work for the LDS church as a maintenance/building caretaker for the new church house in Richmond. He was the best do it yourself man they ever had. He could fix anything. He also took care of the outside of the building and locked the church up each night. He had that job for 20 years.
Bob was an original member of the Richmond volunteer fire department. He did that for many years until he went to a fire one night that a mother and 2 children died in. He couldn’t do it anymore after that.
He was a member of the Richmond riders and rode with them until the group was dissolved.
Bob loved being in the mountains. He rode horses from the time he was little. It was never a bad day when he could get on his horse and ride up in the hills or go hunting. He went on a pack trip each summer with his boys and many friends. He made sure his boys learned to tie a pack on a horse correctly and the knots were right. He loved the Tetons next to Yellowstone Park.
Bob was an avid hunter. He and his boys planned for weeks before deer hunting. He was of the belief you plan for the hunt, you enjoy the hunt and you clean up after the hunt.
Bob was an active member of the LDS church. He served as a counselor for 2 bishops, as Elders Quorum President, served on the high council and was a faithful home teacher. He would bring a treat in a paper bag every year on the children’s birthdays. He didn’t enjoy talking in front of a congregation but he enjoyed talking to people one on one. Bob and Marge also served a church service mission in the Cache Valley area in 2002.
Bob is survived by his sons, Lee (Rose Ann), Bart (Michelle), and Scott, his sister Jeanine (John) Mayberry, grandchildren, Angie, Stacy, Bret and Amy, great grandchildren, Brooke, Halle, Bracken, Dylan, Ty, Rilen, Emma and Briggs. He was preceded in death by his sweetheart Marge, a son Todd, his parents, and his older sister Ailene.
A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at 12:00 noon with a viewing from 10:00 to 11:30, at the City Creek Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 150 South 100 East in Richmond, Utah. Memories and Condolences may be shared with the family at cvmorturary.com.
We want to thank the emergency team at the Cache Valley Hospital, the nurses at Maple Springs and especially Becky, the Hospice nurse at Ascend Health Care, for taking such good care of Bob.
