Douglas Lyle Coleman, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on July 29, 2026.

Doug lived life with a contagious sense of joy. He had an unmatched ability to make people laugh, whether he was captivating a room with one of his legendary stories, breaking into an uncanny impression, or simply finding humor in the everyday. Time spent with Doug was rarely quiet, and never boring.

One of the greatest joys of Doug’s life was sharing it with his wife, Jane, the love of his life. They were inseparable, always talking, laughing, and spending time together. There was no place Doug would rather be than by Jane’s side.

He loved the outdoors, especially a day shredding fresh powder at Beaver Mountain Resort, Powder Mountain, or Snowbasin, camping, paintballing, live music, skateboarding, woodworking, dogs, and anything that had an element of spontaneity or adventure.

Of all the roles he cherished, being a father was his greatest. There was nothing he loved more than playing ball with his son, Cy, cheering him on, and introducing him to new things. His love for Cy was unwavering and evident in everything he did. The pride he felt in being his dad was one of the defining joys of his life.

Doug leaves behind a legacy of laughter, kindness, silliness, and unforgettable memories. He is survived by his wife, Jane; his son, Cy; his mother, Joyce; his father, Lyle; his sisters, Diane (Lance) Zollinger, Beckie (Jason) Cale, Sandie (Mark) Pasternak, and Suzie (Ken) Clark; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at Mack Park in Smithfield on Saturday, August 15, from 6:00–8:00 p.m.
