Don Hyrum Anderson

June 12, 1934 — December 20, 2025

Clarkston

Don H. Anderson passed away on December 20, 2025 in North Logan, Utah. He was born on June 12, 1934 to Carl Joseph Anderson and Annie Mildred (Henrie) Anderson in Logan, Utah.

In the early years his family would split their time between two residences; one house in Trenton, where the winters are more mild, and the other house being on the family homestead dry farm near Clarkston, Utah during the planting and harvest seasons. Don grew up on the family farm, known as The Ranch, which had been in operation for multiple generations. Crops like wheat, barley, and safflower have been grown on the land since the late 1800’s. Don had cultivated many crops with various machinery, tractors, and combines throughout his lifetime continuing his family business well into his later years.

Along with dry farming, he had a lengthy career as a long haul truck driver. From the late 1960’s into 2015, he was an owner/operator of a custom semi truck and trailer business. He drove countless miles on American’s roads delivering a variety of goods. In the 1970’s he drove for Elison, through the 1980’s and 90’s he drove trucks for Gilt Edge Flour Mills, and through the 2000’s he delivered Snowcat snow grooming vehicles to ski resorts throughout the western US. Driving on roads and in conditions that only the most skilled and daring truck drivers would ever attempt. He would always make it back home to tell us about his adventures then immediately back out on another delivery.

Hard work was an everyday occurrence throughout his life. At any given time he was working on an engine or mechanical part in some state of rebuilding or repair. With all of his hard work also came aspirations for more, his famous phrase “I’m gunna” relates to all his future plans that he dreamed one day to achieve.

Along with his wife Colleen, he was a proud and active member of the Elks Lodge in Preston, Idaho. Together they enjoyed years of camaraderie and activities with the fraternal order.

He most enjoyed socializing with his fellow truck drivers, farmers, and friends around cups of coffee as they sit and “bullshit” on any given Sunday morning.

He was preceded in death by his wife Colleen and grandson Dirk Cooper. He is survived by his four children. They are daughters: Lora Lee (Jeff) Cooper, Lesa Lott, Leslie Beutler, and his son and caregiver for the last years of his life, Carl Anderson, and grandson Hunter.

His extended family includes his five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. One sister and brother-in-law, Ann and LD Bowcutt. Many nieces and nephews and special friend Laura Elroy.
