Alan Dean Moser Obituary
Alan Dean Moser’s life journey ended on May 27, 2025, at Gables Assisted Living and Memory Care, North Logan, Utah, after a decades-long battle with frontal-temporal dementia.
Alan was born November 7, 1949, in Logan, Utah, to Wilford (Bud) Moser and Lois Haltiner Moser. He graduated in 1968 from Logan High School. He married Susan Gail Engle Moser on March 20, 1971. They had four sons: Brian (Sheryl) Moser; Jeffery (Yasmine) Moser; Christopher (KT) Moser; and Tony (Kara) Moser. Chris preceded him in death in 2008.
Over the years, Alan worked for Logan Floral, Aspen Grove Reception Center, LaGrande Johnson Construction, and Morton Thiokol. From 1981 to 2008, he owned and operated Keller Transmission and also taught courses specializing in transmission repair. He acted as the primary caregiver for his mother Lois from 2005 to 2011, visiting her twice a day, and taking her grocery shopping and to her doctor’s appointments.
Alan loved his family and fixing and restoring vintage cars, including a Model A, that he drove during high school, a Model T, trucks, and two 1969 Plymouth Road Runners. His pride and joy was a vintage fire engine, which he proudly drove and later sold to a local organization.
Alan was a master mechanic, carpenter, gardener, and painter and utilized his skills in remodeling his 1914 home that he shared with his wife for almost fifty years. He enjoyed both his home and his dogs, a Siberian Husky and a Border Collie.
He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing and staying at the family cabin, Chokecherry, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. He often talked of his fishing trips with his father Bud to Mexico. Alan also fished in such diverse locations as Greys River, Wyoming, Utah, Washington, Jamaica, and Alaska.
The Moser family is known for producing a long line of excellent cooks, and Alan was no exception. His prime rib and ebelskivers(pancake balls) were much anticipated treats.
Alan loved visiting with people, watching westerns, and telling Dad jokes.
He is survived by his wife; three sons; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews, and three siblings: Terri Moser, Reno, Nevada; Colin (Kathlyn) Moser, Logan, Utah; and JoAnn (John) Nyman, North Logan, Utah. Alan’s parents and one son preceded him in death.
At Alan’s request, there will be no funeral service. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.cvmortuary.com
